Die Rabtaldirndln – aufplatzen

The Austrian Rabtaldirndln group have set out on a long tour and are inviting audiences to take part in a meditative folkloric slideshow which features singing, dancing and, of course, drinking. They are bringing the Rabtal (Rab Valley) into foreign countries in order to bring foreign countries into the Rabtal. Their strategy is simple but radical: they want to live out their life motto as authentically as possible and present stories of real people. Yet as is often the case, everything turns out differently than it might at first humorously appear.

Die Rabtaldirndln
The Rabtaldirndln are a theatre combine, which together looks for topics drawn from the areas of tension surrounding urban and rural areas. Generally speaking, they appear as a formation. The combine looks for topics together and presents these as a collective. Sometimes, individual guests become involved in the troupe and work with it on particular projects. The Rabtal is an imaginary territory inhabited by the Rabtaldirndln from Styria. The pieces always investigate the ability to transfer the rural idyll to an urban environment.
